Today is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi whose statues grace many gardens and who is said to have preached to the birds and tamed a wolf at Gubbio. In our prayer life today let us remember the pets we have had who brought us such joy and pleasure and let us commend our animal friends, past and present, to Our Lord’s loving protection. Let us give thanks for the gifts of companionship they give to us.
